Turkish Organic Cotton

We believe that using GOTS certified Turkish Organic Cotton from the Aegean Region for the fabrics is an essential thing as the cotton is grown using well-defined methods and controlled auxiliaries to protect the natural resources such as maintaining soil fertility as well as reduce the harmful impact on the environment by prohibiting the use of synthetic toxic and persistent pesticides.

Aegean cotton has all the features expected from a good-quality fiber. It is among the best in the world with its characteristics of long fibers, brightness, high strength, and homogeneity. The Aegean region is located in the far western part of Turkey, enjoying the best Mediterranean climate where cotton is grown under the sun, wind, and rain of this land by experienced farmers for almost two hundred years.

The most important aspect of our cotton production is the seeds used which are the traditional ones and contain no GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). The use of GMO-containing seeds is prohibited by law and strict penalties can be enforced.

Considering the major cotton-growing countries of the world have chosen a different path; we, organic cotton promoters take pride in the purity of our local fiber. This does not only prevent contamination of other food crops, but also does not pose any health risks as cottonseed oil is blended in vegetable oils, which we use for cooking and frying, and animal feed on farms.

TENCEL™ Modal is a branded lyocell fiber that comes from the pulp of beech trees, sourced from sustainable forests in Austria and neighboring countries which is dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent. TENCEL™ Modal is produced using a closed loop system which has minimal impact on the environment and maintains economical use of energy and water. Unique physical properties of TENCEL™ Modal fibers lead to their great strength, efficient moisture absorption and gentleness to skin.

Brilliant in color and luster, TENCEL™ branded modal fibers are known for being exquisitely soft and pleasant to the skin. TENCEL™ Modal fibers exhibit high flexibility, resulting in a naturally soft quality to the textile. Blending TENCEL™ Modal with other fibers significantly improves the property of softness in fabrics, enhancing overall comfort.

NATULON® zippers are a resource-conserving, recycling-oriented product made from PET bottles, old fiber and other polyester remnants. It is the result of a double-layered development system using both chemical and material recycling. This manufacturing process was carefully designed to reduce negative influences on the environment such as energy consumption, CO2 emission, the use of crude oil and the production of industrial waste. A wise use of resources is vital; it has been predicted that many resources may run out in the future.

To protect the earth and produce less polluting substances on the environment, we use a variety of environmentally friendly alternatives to manufacture our products.
Starting with the snaps, YKK uses an environmentally friendly technique to finish the snaps, working with the base color of the materials instead of applying a coating, which is more harmful to the environment.
For the production of the “ECO-FINISHES”, the aspect of environmental friendliness is particularly striking, in that do not use the classic galvanic coating process for production and thus use 70% less chemical substances, consume 54% less water and effectively reduce power consumption and protect our planet.
The fact that the typical galvanic coating process is not used not only saves water and electricity, but also dispenses with toxic substances such as heavy metals.
